Lasers fire and the ship sustains heavy damages. The crew of the United Star Ship Kelvin scrambles to survive the conflict. Fans of the original “Star Trek” series anxiously waited outside theaters on May 7th, wondering if the new movie would live up to expectations. The movie drew not only fans of the original “Star Trek,” but also those who had seen the trailers and wondered if perhaps the movie could be worth the ticket price.
“Star Trek” the movie begins with the birth of James Tiberius Kirk (Chris Pine) and the death of his father George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth). It then goes on to show James admittance into the star fleet and his fight against Captain Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan seeking revenge against Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the Federation.
The movie has amazing graphics, boasting multiple high-technology ships and fearsome monsters; it definitely lives up to the futuristic vibe. With almost the entire movie taking place aboard a star ship, the crew in charge of graphics rose to the challenge of making a futuristic space craft seem believable.
The plot is sometimes hard to follow when it makes references to certain characters or civilizations that, unless you have followed the series, can be hard to interpret.
Viewers who have followed the “Star Trek” series may have a different opinion on the movie, but for those who have not the movie is highly entertaining. With its stunning graphics and amazing action scenes, it promises to be worth watching.
