Last-minute Prom tips

        Months of hunting down the perfect dress and finding the ideal date all lead to one pivotal night of a high schooler’s career. Prom is Saturday night and everyone should be prepared for the special night. If you haven’t properly prepared for Prom and you’re worried about running out of time, here are some easy ways to avoid any last-minute mishaps.

10. No time to get your nails done a day before Prom? Easy. Go to Walmart and get some $5 nails and do them yourself. They’re cheaper and look just as good as professional acrylics.

9. Use the bathroom before you put your dress on. They’re hard to get on and hard to get off.

8. Boys, pay for your dates’ dinner. Don’t let her take the check.

7. Wear a button-down shirt or something with a big neck opening when you get your hair done. There is no use spoiling that pretty updo with your t-shirt.

6. If you’ve forgotten to break your shoes in, wear your shoes while you get ready. Nothing is worse than blisters on Prom night.

5. “Where can I put my phone during the dance?” Because girls don’t have the luxury of dresses with nice pockets, it’s difficult to keep little things like phones nearby. If you have a flip phone, flip it over your garter. If not, girls, place your phone in the bust of your dress.

4. Eat breakfast and lunch. It might sound dumb, but girls especially know that the entire day is hectic and rushed. You just might forget.

3. Your heels are going to sink straight down into the mud if you do outside pictures. Bring some flats or flip flops to wear for those pictures. Flats are especially nice because later when you don’t want to wear heels at the dance, you can just slip them on and avoid the nasty floor.

2. Pack a “just in case” kit. Girls, make sure you have a few extra bobby pins, nail glue, eyelash glue, q-tips, oil-blotting face wipes, eyeliner, lip gloss or chap stick and camera batteries. Make it small enough where you can let your date keep it in his pocket. Going through the coat check every half hour to reapply lip gloss is annoying for your date and the coat checkers.

Guys, you’re fine. If anything, keep a few mints in your pocket. Girls like tasty boys.
