Girls Soccer
The girl’s soccer team is starting to run, practice and prepare to take on another season. Practices have not started, but they are undergoing a conditioning camp in hopes of starting the season strong.
“I think that the camp will help prepare us all for try outs and get us all back into shape so we can have a successful year,” junior Christina Lammers said.
The team is not the same this year as they have been in the past.
“We have a lot of returning starters this year, as where in the past we have had quite a few young and inexperienced starters, so I think that we will make it further this year then we have the last couple years,” Lammers said.
The team has many starters, but junior Alyssa Lind thinks it is still up to everyone to work together and make the best team possible.
“I think we all contribute to make the team successful,” Lind said. “This year we don’t have very many seniors, so we juniors really need to step it up.”
The girls are ready for another season, hoping this year will be more victorious than the past couple years.
“I think we will do well this year, we have had such a young group in the past, but this year we have a lot of returning experienced students,” head coach Laura Preston said.
The team will have their game at Fargo North April 7 and their first home game April 9 against Shanley.
Track
Whether its sprinters, throwers, jumpers, hurdlers or long distance runners, the track team has been working to prepare themselves for the new season.
“This year is going to be a great year,” junior track manger Meranda Harris said. “We have a lot of strong athletes that will contribute to what I’m sure will be many wins for our track and field team. It’s only the start of the season and we can only get better.”
While Harris thinks the whole team will be a success, there is one person that sticks out to many including junior Rebecca Capouch.
“Ellie Grooters will do great this year, like always,” Capouch said. “She sets her mind to something and practices until it gets perfect, plus I always see her running outside so I know she’s been preparing for the season.”
With all the dedicated and great track athletes this year, the team is only hoping for achievements.
“Overall I think the team will do really good this year,” Capouch said. “I hope we become the EDC champs and I think that we have a pretty good shot at it this year.”
The track team’s next meet is an indoor track meet is today at North Dakota State University (NDSU). The outdoor season starts April 9 with a triangular meet against Wahpeton, Fargo North and West Fargo.
Boy’s Golf
The golf team is eagerly waiting for all the snow to melt to start practicing for the hopes of a triumphant season, with several returning players.
“I honestly think that we will make it to state and I think that we will do pretty well at state, because we are an overall strong team,” junior John Sund said.
The golfers are starting to present themselves as a team. The boys did not really have matching uniforms in the past. It was just what all the guys decided to wear. With uniforms they are presented as more of a team.
“This is the first year we have to wear matching uniforms for all of our meets,” Sund said.
With all of the returning players the team is hoping that they will be able to pull off another great year.
“We have all worked hard to achieve our goals and we hope for a good season because there are a lot of us returning,” junior Jared Cowden said.
The first meet is the South Invite April 14 at Rose Creek.
